Press Release
CHESTER, Va., Dec 18, 2025 (Get News) -
Author, songwriter, and longtime hospital Unit Secretary Mrs. Linda Carter opens her heart and her life story in her deeply moving book, There Was A Little Girl In The Corner. In this intimate testimony, Mrs. Carter reflects on her lifelong journey with mental illness, faith, and healing, and how the love of Jesus Christ carried her through her darkest hours.
Beginning at just five years old, Mrs. Carter’s story traces the painful moments and triumphant breakthroughs that shaped her into the woman she is today. She writes candidly about surviving eight nervous breakdowns, moments of profound heartbreak, and the emotional weight of mental illness. Yet at every turn, her story is anchored by the unwavering love of her late mother, her devoted husband of 48 years, Apostle William D. Carter III, and above all, her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

“The LORD literally gave me the words,” Mrs. Carter says when recalling the moment she wrote the song that inspired the book’s title, during her time in the psychiatric ward’s “Quiet Room.” What began as a personal expression became a message of hope she realized others needed to hear. “I wrote my story for my own healing, but also for every little girl who feels trapped in mental anguish and doesn’t know how to find her way out.
Mrs. Carter’s love for writing began at thirteen, when her older brother gifted her an electric typewriter, a moment that sparked a lifelong passion. Over the years, she has written plays performed in her church, composed and recorded original songs, and continues to uplift others daily, often singing to patients and coworkers at the hospital where she works.

Her greatest achievement, however, is one she proudly declares: the day she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and was delivered from the spiritual battles that once overshadowed her life.

With this book, Mrs. Carter hopes readers will find both comfort and clarity. “Mental illness,” she emphasizes, “is just like any other human affliction. Medication and therapy can help but the greatest remedy of all is Jesus Christ, the Healer from Galilee.”

Mrs. Carter is also currently working on a book of short stories set for release in 2026.
